Congratulations! You’re now a Christian!

There is no greater decision than bringing your life under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. We call this being “in Christ”. Sometimes people refer to this as being “saved”, mainly because we have been saved from God’s judgement and from Hell – an eternity separated from God in torment. This decision is the most significant decision someone can make, not only because of the joy and peace it brings in this life, but also for the amazing eternal life that is obtained through what Jesus has purchased for us when He died on the cross.

You see, because of Adam and Eve’s disobedience in the Garden of Eden, all of us are born with a sinful nature. Paul, one of God’s early Church leaders, wrote it this way in the letter to the Roman Church:

“When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned.” (Romans 5:12)

He also wrote…

“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard” (Romans 3:23)

What he means is, because God is perfect and pure, He can’t associate with sin.  Therefore we’re distant from Him, not able to have friendship or be part of His family. Even though God loves us, we can’t feel or accept it. Not only that, but this leads to judgement and eternal death because God is a just God and cannot allow us to enter into the eternal life He has created for us when we sin.

Now, there is really good news about this matter. God, Himself, sent His only Son to our world. His name is Jesus and He walked on the Earth around 2000 years ago. He was sinless and pure, because He was 100% God Himself, even though He was also 100% human.  In the form of Jesus, God visited Earth as a man and lived a natural life. He was just like everyone else except He had no sin at all, He was pure, which is what we call “righteous”.

Even though Jesus lived the perfect life, some people – ironically the religious people – hated Him and eventually killed Him by hanging Him on a cross. When Jesus was hanged on the cross, God the Father placed all of our sin – past, present and future sin – on Him. Therefore, when Jesus died on the cross He died to take our punishment for our sinful nature. He was killed on a Friday, but He arose from the grave alive on the following Sunday morning (Easter).

Yes, this happened around 2000 years ago, but this act of God transcends time and as a result, if we bring our life under the Lordship of Jesus Christ, we are totally forgiven of all sin. We can then be part of God’s family and we will no longer be judged for our sin.

This is why Paul wrote…

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23)

Now that’s really GOOD NEWS, which is what GOSPEL means.

So, is Jesus your Saviour? Have you asked Him to forgive you of all your sin?Is Jesus your Lord? Have you surrendered your life to His ways?If you would like to do this just pray and ask Him to forgive you, ask Him to come into your life and be your Lord.

Here’s a question for you:

Jesus said, “…unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.” (John 3:3)

What do you think He meant by the words “Born Again“?

Here’s a hint:

Paul wrote to a Church explaining this, saying, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Why don’t you discuss this thought with another Christian?
